Photoelectric plethysmography. Ocular blood flow measurements in dogs.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ocular blood flow in dogs was monitored loith the use of a specially designed photoelectric plethysmograph transducer. The ocular pulse waves demonstrated were (1) of low amplitude, (2) coincident with cardiac systole, and (3) rapidly affected by stimuli known to influence cerebral blood flow. Changes in ocidar pulse amplitude correlated ivith concurrent blood gas analyses (arterial COi and O!). Hypercarbla and hypoxia increase the ocular pulse amplitude, while hypocarbia and hyperoxia decrease the ocular pulse amplitude. Variations in ocular pulse ampi.tude measured by photoelectric plethysmography may mirror changes in cerebral and ocular blood flow.

متن کاملRadionuclide plethysmography for noninvasive evaluation of peripheral arterial blood flow.
We validated a noninvasive radionuclide plethysmography technique to evaluate peripheral arterial blood flow during reactive hyperemia. This method, based on the measurement of blood volume variations during repetitive venous occlusions, was compared with strain-gauge venous impedance plethysmography. The technique uses 99mTc-labeled autologous red blood cells scintigraphy to determine the rate...
متن کاملEvaluation of diastolic blood flow dynamic of the left ventricle in dogs with mitral valve regurgitation using vector flow mapping
Mitral valve regurgitation (MVR) is a common valvular disease in dogs. Hydrokinetic evaluation of the blood flow within the ventricles has become possible by vector flow mapping (VFM), which shows the blood flow within the ventricles in vector and vortex flows. Blood flow within the left ventricle of MVR dogs was compared at different stages of MVR and to that of normal dogs. 14 normal dogs and...
متن کاملSPECT/CT-plethysmography – non-invasive quantitation of bone and soft tissue blood flow
Preserved blood flow to bone and soft tissue is essential for their normal function. To date only numerous methods are suitable for direct bone blood flow (BBF) measurement. Here, we introduce a novel quantitative method for bone and soft tissue blood flow (BBF and SBF, respectively) measurement. It involves a combination of SPECT/CT imaging for blood pool localization in a specific region of i...
متن کاملTHE BLOOD SUPPLY OF VARIOUS SKIN AREAS AS ESTIMATED BY THE PHOTOELECTRIC PLETHYSMOGRAPHl
Information on the skin circulation has been supplied in the past by observations of skin color and temperature, by inspection of limited skin areas, by limited plethysmography, by measurements of skin conductivity, by oscillometry of ear arteries. The application of the mechanical plet.hysmograph has been necessarily limited to such areas as the ears, fingers and toes in which the circulatory ...
